ELogical Fallacy
Petitio Principii
Description
Petitio Principii is a circle parading as a road: the conclusion is hidden in the premise and then triumphantly rediscovered.
Why This Works
It works because repetition resembles rigor. What is said twice seems proved once, to those who do not inspect the joints of the argument.
Example 1
“This law is righteous because lawful things are righteous.” The claim returns to itself and calls the journey complete.
Example 2
“This platform is trustworthy because unreliable platforms are not this one.” The words move; the reasoning does not.
