NLogical Fallacy

False Equivalence

Description

False Equivalence is moral and factual flattening: unlike things are weighed on one scale and declared equal by convenience.

Why This Works

It works because parity sounds fair. Proportion requires effort, and effort is often postponed.

Example 1

“Both teams lied,” though one misstated a date and the other forged records.

Example 2

“Both positions are opinions,” though one rests on systematic evidence and the other on rumor.
