TLogical Fallacy
False Authority
Description
False Authority invokes prestige from one domain to command belief in another.
Why This Works
It works because fame appears transferable. People confuse recognition with relevant competence.
Example 1
“A celebrity endorses this treatment, therefore it works,” though no clinical evidence is provided.
Example 2
“A renowned athlete rejects this economic model, so economists are wrong.” Domain mismatch is ignored.
