XIVCognitive Bias

Horn Effect

Your bias is Horn Effect. A negative impression in one area colors overall judgment.

Why This Bias Happens

As with the halo effect, the mind seeks a single story. A flaw in one domain stains all others.

Example 1

Epictetus asks us to judge by actions and principles, not by passing irritation. This blocks unfair general condemnation.

Example 2

Personnel studies show one disliked trait can reduce ratings of unrelated competencies.
