XVIICognitive Bias

Naive Realism

Your bias is Naive Realism. Believing you see reality objectively while others are biased.

Why This Bias Happens

Consciousness feels transparent from the inside. Because our own reasoning feels direct, we treat dissent as ignorance or bad faith.

Example 1

Marcus repeatedly separates event from judgment. That split undermines naive realism by admitting perception is interpretive.

Example 2

Research on political disagreement shows each side often sees itself as objective and the other as distorted.
